For this lesson, you will want to have rhythm sticks, wooden spoons, or another available “instrument”.
You and your child will keep a steady beat as you accompany a couple of selections composed by John Philip Sousa (pictured on the left).
Pay attention to the dynamics (loud and soft) and play accordingly. Get louder as the music gets louder, etc.
Semper Fidelis performed by the United States Marine Band.
As you listen to music throughout the week, take the opportunity to practice keeping a steady beat and paying attention to the dynamics.
